Adaptation of 51&AVRprog programmer to program AT89S51, AT8S52.

This note is applicable to 51&AVRprog programmer, serial numbers below 84-00916 only.

There is necessary to perform a little adaptation of the 51&AVRprog programmer hardware, to be the programming of AT89S51/52 chips reliable. This situation is caused by different chip parameters of AT89S51/52 against his successor of AT89C51/52.

This adaptation mean to add two resistor networks (or 8 standard resistors) parallel to current one. The value of added resistors should be in the range from 2k7 to 3k3.

ATTENTION! This adaptation if performed only by ELNEC with full warranties. ELNEC isn't responsible to any issued problems in the case of self-installation.

Used parts:
  • resistor network RRB (4 independent resistors in one package) 4x3k3, 10%, 2x
  • or standard 1/4W resistors 3k3, 10%, 8x

Adjustment description:
  • remove the bottom part of cover from the programmer (press to sides and pull)
  • unscrew 4 screws that hold a programmer hardware into upper part of cover
  • solder 2 resistor networks to positions (shown at the picture in yellow ellipse)
  • or solder 8 standard resistors at the same position (only first one of the 8 resistors is shown at the picture)
  • assemble the programmer by using previous steps in the reverse order
